Why we are running out of ideas.
We cannot think fresh without influence,
Ideas come as a result of the exploration of an influence.
Conversations with other people and interactions with our environments are what give us a perspective on external influences through which we generate new ideas, new ways of thinking and unlock parts of the brain we ourselves can’t access.
Moving out of our daily routines, breaking the chain, exploring new parts of the world, meeting more people can impact how you think, how you chose to live, and who you are.
The pandemic has highly dulled down the possibilities of such interactions happening anytime soon.
Too much isolation almost always corrupts us.
The internet has become one of the very few sources of input left and is affecting our thinking much more than you could ever fathom.
Social media provides us with inputs using an algorithm which feeds us content we’ve either clicked on, liked, spent time on, shared or saved. They tend to repeat the same genre of content in our feed to increase the amount of time we spend on their apps, this tends to restrict our thoughts, since we view similar or the same content for hours on end, we are deprived of fresh inputs. Which as a result leads to us running out of novel ideas.
We humans create new possibilities, and with these new possibilities, come even more possibilities.
- Fewer new possibilities = fewer new ideas.
